Americana, folk, and roots star Allison Russell embarks on the second stop of her In the Hour of Chaos tour at The 9:30 Club on Friday, October 16.
Russell’s third solo album by the same name is a genre-expansive love letter to collaboration. All but one of the album’s songs feature another performer, with notable names like Norah Jones (“Really Real”) and Brittney Spencer (“Black Lavender”) making appearances.
Always an eager contributor herself, Russell is featured on Hozier’s “Wildflower and Barley” from his Unreal Unearth (2023), “Tear It Down” with the Indigo Girls’ Amy Ray (2022), and Orville Peck’s two most recent albums, Stampede (2024) and Mule (2026).
In the Hour of Chaos promises soulful melodies and diverse instrumentation, continuing Russell’s trademark “rainbow diaspora” of elevating fellow artists while creating unique storytelling experiences within each song.
