Concert Preview: Capitol Boogie at AU

Get ready to rock out at the WVAU event we’ve all been waiting for: Capitol Boogie! Headlining band Lowertown and opening act Nectarine Girl will be gracing our very own Battelle Atrium this Friday, Nov. 22 at 7:30 p.m. Free for AU students, this is an event you won’t want to miss.

Lowertown is Olivia Osby (Olivia O.) and Avsha Weinberg. Formed in high school, the duo has been putting out music together since 2018. Their music features a self-described melancholic mix of electronic and lofi instrumentation, and their soulful lyricism sticks with you long after the song ends. For instance, take this line from their hit song “Best Person You Know”: “Do you believe in God or anything at all? / What morals do you stand by, have your standards started to fall?” Lowertown sure knows how to pack a punch. Check out Olivia O.’s new solo project “No Bones, Sickly Sweet” on the rack

Hailing from Boston, MA, opening act Nectarine Girl is a force to be reckoned with. Full of powerful guitar melodies and angel-clear vocals, her music shocks your system and leaves you wanting more. Unsure where to start with Nectarine Girl and Lowertown’s respective discographies? Check out this playlist curated by our music and events directors.

Be part of WVAU history and catch this stellar show at Battelle Atrium (inside Battelle-Tompkins building) on Friday, Nov. 22. Doors at 7:30 p.m., Nectarine Girl at 8:00 p.m., Lowertown at 9:00 p.m. This event is free for American University students with a valid student ID and $5 for non-students.
