Everyone Asked About You takes the stage at The Atlantis on Thurs., April 17, returning from a twenty-some-odd year hiatus. This 90s band from Little Rock, Arkansas has been revived after the recent reissue of their catalog and new EP ‘Never Leave.’ ‘Paper Airplanes, Paper Hearts’ was released in 2023, marking their formal return and earnest entry into the current world of lovesick emo/indie. “Paper airplanes, paper hearts,” they declare, “always wind up, torn apart.”
The songs are bittersweet and sentimental, soft build-ups culminating into intense and layered instrumental breakdowns. Drums crash and fuzzy guitars create audible catharsis as each song explores the emotional, complicated, and beautiful human condition. Whether they’re complimenting each others’ full-stomached belts, gravelly yells, or quietly sincere vocal deliveries, leads Hannah Vogan and Chris Sheppard sing fervently over the guitars and drums simultaneous dissonance and melody.
For the fourth stop of their spring 2025 tour, Everyone Asked About You is coming to D.C.’s The Atlantis, an intimate standing room on 9th Street right behind the 9:30 Club. Doors are at 6:30 p.m.with opener Birthday Girl DC. Tickets still being sold here.
