The folk and country rock beats of Hiss Golden Messenger are bound to have the 9:30 Club feeling reflective, hopeful, and ready to dance.
The band has taken their gritty multi-genre sound around the country since August, arriving in DC in the last month of the I’m People tour.
“In the Middle of It” and “Shaky Eyes”— both released as singles prior to the full album— are standout tracks on I’m People, offering resilience and solace in difficult times.
M.C. Taylor, who leads the group on guitar and vocals, writes, “I’m People is an intensely human record, and so one that needed to feel immediate, vulnerable, and full of spirit; something you could touch, sing along to, dance with, know about, recognize, relate.”
