Concert Preview: Mindchatter @ 9:30 Club on 3/21

Mindchatter—the pseudonym for Multi-instrumentalist Bryce Connolly—asks why electronic music and indie songwriting can’t coexist on equal footing. The producer-singer-songwriter, who once joked he nearly went by “DJ People Pleaser,” has built his sound around this simple but ambitious premise: why shouldn’t a rave feel as emotionally resonant as listening to Bob Dylan on vinyl?

Connolly, a self-described devotee of Kurt Vonnegut and David Foster Wallace, brings that same literary vigor to his music. He’s spoken openly about finding modern EDM hollow. He moves to fill that gap by creating his signature trippy, dance-floor-ready tracks that refuse to simplify the lyrics. The result of his unmatched creative drive has earned him sets at Coachella’s DoLab stage and Electric Forest, where his viral DJ set introduced him to a much wider audience.

Now Mindchatter takes to the road behind “Giving Up on Words”, his third studio album, released via Foreign Family Collective. The tour spans over 20 stops across the U.S and Canada, with support from NASAYA. If the sold-out dates in San Francisco, Los Angeles, and Portland are any indication, D.C. is in for something truly special.

Get your tickets here to see Mindchatter take the stage at the iconic 9:30 Club on Saturday, March 21, with doors at 6 p.m.
