“Trading you for another / I do it all the time / Over learning my past / Circles make you mine”
– “Circles,” Tanukichan, 2024
BREAKING NEWS: Cool woman with a plethora of crunchy guitar pedals and the voice of an
angel is taking over the Atlantis in a few weeks. Need I say more?
(I will say more.)
On Oct. 14, 2024, modern shoegaze master Tanukichan will be performing at the Atlantis
with support from villagerrr and Starcleaner Reunion.
Hailing from Oakland, California, the classically-trained Hannah van Loon has been gradually
making a name for herself and her project, Tanukichan, for around eight years. In 2016, van
Loon released her debut EP “Radiolove” which set the groundwork for her chillwave-inspired
discography. Now, a year after the release of her last album “GIZMO,” van Loon has done it again
with her latest musical project, “Circles.”
Although “Circles” of course features van Loon’s signature dreamy vocals and nostalgia-evoking
instrumentals, this EP leans more towards the classic crunchy, shoegaze-y sound that fans of my
bloody valentine and Have a Nice Life will certainly appreciate.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 14 at The Atlantis with the show starting at 7 p.m.
