American folk-pop duo The Army, The Navy will be gracing the stage of the 9:30 Club on Halloween.
Maia Ciabriello and Sasha Goldberg are childhood best friends who went to the same singing coach, attended the same university, and moved to Los Angeles together to pursue their music career. Their vocal harmonies are the kind that you truly only hear from two people who have intertwined them their whole lives.
The duo began to gain attention upon the release of their first extended play, Fruit for Flies, when the song “Vienna (In Memoriam)” went viral on TikTok. “Gentle Hellraiser” and “Alexandra” also jump out as standout tracks to me, with the former being what I believe is the best song on the EP.
Their next EP, Sugar for Bugs, is their second of just three releases. The project is inspired by the time they spent in New Orleans together when they attended Loyola University, and it features my favorite track in their whole discography, “40%,” which I recommend to anyone who has thought about getting into The Army, The Navy.
The duo dropped their debut album, Fake Brave Life, over the summer of 2026, and is now embarking on the one month long Fake Brave Tour. They’ll be making their stop in DC for a special Halloween show, with doors opening at 6PM (they know their audience, so they’re starting early for all you college kids that want to party hard after). As their discography and audience expands, I can’t wait to see where they go next. I’m really looking forward to putting on some bug antennae and shedding a few tears to the music. Tickets to see The Army, The Navy at 6:00pm on 10/31 are still available to be purchased here.
