Concert Preview: The Psychedelic Furs & The Jesus and Mary Chain

On Sunday, Oct. 6, the Psychedelic Furs and The Jesus and Mary Chain will take the stage at The Anthem as part of their collective tour with support from Frankie Rose. The New Wave British band is known for their quirky tunes that soundtracked 80s pop culture and has resurfaced in the ever-growing movement of coming-of-age movies set in the 80s. This tour continues the celebration of their 2020 release of “Made of Rain”, which came 29 years after their 1991 release “World Outside”.

The stage will be shared with another UK based 80s alternative band, The Jesus and Mary Chain. Similarly to the Psychedelic Furs, this tour comes after also a 30 year break from album making. Their album “Glasgow Eyes” is their first release since their first run as a band in 1998 where the songs on the album are entirely written for the album. Thus, this tour is marking the celebration of a comeback, bigger, better and cooler than ever.

As a long time fan of both bands, I am incredibly excited for this show and to see what both The Psychedelic Furs and The Jesus and Mary Chain can do. I am looking forward to not only experiencing their music live for the first time, but also getting to experience it in a room full of people who grew up listening to their music. The tour will have 20 stops across the United States following the DC date, wrapping up in early November. For tickets and more information you can visit their Ticketmaster page, linked here. Hope to see you there!
