Concert Preview: The Rocky Horror Picture Show

Are you ready to do the Time Warp again? On Oct. 31, The Rocky Horror Picture Show: The 49th Anniversary Spectacular Tour is coming to the Lincoln Theatre right here in DC! Hosted by Patricia Quinn  – Rocky Horror’s original Magenta  – and featuring a screening of the unedited film and a live shadow cast performance from DC’s own Sonic Transducers, this show is a must-see this Halloween!

First released in 1975, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” follows the story of Brad Majors and Janet Weiss who stumble upon a castle owned by the eccentric Dr. Frank N. Furter. Hilarity and madness ensues, with Rocky Horror’s campy songs, Transylvanian aliens, pelvic thrusts, and lots of feather boas still enrapturing audiences to this cult classic after 49 years. With the film continuing to be shown in limited release as of 2024, “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” holds the record for the longest-running theatrical release in film history!

For those not familiar with live performances of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” the screenings are often accompanied by a shadow cast. A shadow cast is a group of performers who mime and lip sync along to a screening of the film and heavily encourage audience participation. The shadow casts of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show” elevate the experience to something you cannot get from watching the film at home or in a traditional movie theater.

If you are planning to attend, be prepared to sing, dance, laugh, throw props, and maybe even run around in your underwear. A sensationally spectacular time for Rocky Horror super fans and virgins alike, this show is not one you’ll want to miss!

Doors open at 6:30pm and the show starts at 8:00pm this Thursday. If you are looking to rose tint your Halloween, tickets are still available here.
