If you’re free next Friday night, you may consider joining Tinzo + Jojo for their Dial Up Tour at 9:30 Club. If you’re hearing about them for the first time, Tinzo + Jojo are the siblings and DJs behind Book Club Radio, a YouTube channel dedicated to providing unique music to dance along to. As a Queer artist, Tinzo’s music is heavily influenced by the LGBTQ+ experience, and they aim to “promote unapologetic joy and inclusivity within the music and live events industry.” Jojo Lorenzo is a filmmaker, most notably responsible for the PBS documentary series “Sound Field.”
Tinzo + Jojo’s Dial Up Tour is themed around the early days of the internet. The show will be a four-hour “immersive experience” that will include music and visual elements reminiscent of a 90s computer. The duo encourages dressing the part, even providing a Pinterest board of cyber-punk, hacker-inspired fashion inspo. They included a list of rules for their show, in order to “create the backdrop for a night of self-expression, connection, and pure energy,” which states:
“1. Come for the music.
- Be open to unfamiliar music and sounds.
- Respect one another.
- Face each other instead of the DJ.
- No phones allowed on the dance floor.
- Dress to express yourself.
- Dance your heart out.”
Tickets for Tinzo + Jojo at 930 Club on Feb. 7 are still available for purchase here. Doors are at 10 p.m.
