Concert Preview: Y La Bamba

Vibrant indie-rock band Y La Bamba returns to perform in DC on Saturday, Oct. 5 at beloved venue Black Cat. Throughout their expansive seven-album career, Y La Bamba has successfully developed a signature sound while simultaneously exploring new sonic landscapes. They fuse a classic indie-rock sound with experimental folk and electronic influences, creating an eclectic yet cohesive discography.

For those just discovering Y La Bamba and looking for a place to start with their discography, 2023 album “Lucha” and 2016 album “Ojos Del Sol” are their most streamed. Standout tracks from “Lucha” include hit single “Hues” featuring Devendra Banhart and stripped-down cover of Hank Williams’ “I’m So Lonesome I Could Cry.” “Ojos Del Sol” is a soaring record full of lilting guitar and warm melodies; standout tracks include “Orca” and titular track “Ojos Del Sol.”
